Earlier today, Governor Andrew Cuomo declared all New York schools would remain closed through the end of the school year. The Governor advised that a decision about summer school would be announced at a later date. In the meantime, Distance Learning will continue. We will also continue with our weekly food pickups at the High School.
We know this announcement creates many questions. In anticipation of this possibility, we have been working with our administrators on a plan to find the best solutions. More information on end-of-the-year ceremonies, emptying lockers, and the myriad of other things that will be needed as a result of this announcement will be forthcoming.
I would like to thank you again for your patience and support over the past many weeks. I continue to be in awe of the way everyone has continued to go above and beyond to serve our students. It is inspiring to witness, and I feel privileged to be part of a community that continues to rise up to meet any challenges placed in front of them. We truly are #HuskyStrong.
I would like our seniors to know that we all understand how deeply disappointing this news is. We know that everyone wishes we could have an in-person graduation ceremony. We are working hard to create meaningful ways to send you off with all of the pomp and circumstance that you deserve. We hope to have some more details about the options available to share with you very soon.
