Homeschooling
Highland Central School District abides by the NYS Department of Education standards for homeschooling. If you decide homeschooling is right for your student, you will first need to send a letter of intent to the Superintendent that includes your student's full name, date of birth and grade level.
Highland District Central Office
Attention: Mr. Joel Freer
320 Pancake Hollow Road
Highland, NY 12528
After your letter of intent is received, the district will send you a letter of confirmation and a homeschool packet will be mailed to you including the following:
Home Instruction Agreement to sign and return with your Individualized Home Instruction Plan (IHIP)
- CR 100.10 Regulations from NYS
- Home Instruction Q & A
- Home Instruction and Special Education
After you return your signed agreement and your completed IHIP, you will be responsible for reporting progress/grades to the district each quarter as stated on the agreement. Please be sure to check state standards to see if your child needs a completed assessment or final evaluation for their current year.
