Welcome to the Flock in Room 206!

    Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to 3rd Grade!  Despite the challenge of starting a new school year online, we are very excited to be here with all of you!

Going into this new academic year, our primary platforms will be Seesaw for assignments and Zoom for video conferencing. During the first week of school we will be reaching out to each family, meeting each other online, and exploring how to use these two online platforms. Please watch for login information which will be sent in a separate email. In the meantime we suggest downloading the Zoom and Seesaw apps on your child’s device.  Tutorials for Seesaw and Zoom can be found in these links:

To ensure an effective learning environment at home, we highly recommend setting your child up with the most comfortable space with minimal distractions and appropriate lighting.  This could include a desk or table, and materials that are beneficial to learning such as a computer/iPad, headphones/earbuds, notebooks, pencils, extra erasers, scissors, crayons, and glue sticks.  Please refer to the 3rd grade supply list on the Elementary School website for specific supplies that will be needed for the year.

We anticipate that our instructional time to meet and work with students will primarily be between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm and then again between 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm as directed by the building schedule.  There will be a break between these times for lunch and special classes.  Our instructional time will include morning meeting, whole class lessons, individualized conferences, small group work, and independent activities.  Your teacher will also be reaching out to schedule conferences during the allotted times mentioned above.

We are looking forward to learning about each individual student and their families in the next few weeks.  Please be on the lookout for an email from your teacher containing a survey about your child’s interests and experiences at school.  As always, feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns as we navigate through these unprecedented times together.

    Warmest regards,

    Your 3rd Grade Teaching Team
