Assistant Principal's Page
Dear Highland Middle School Students and Families,
My name is Andrew Carnright, and it is with great excitement that I introduce myself to you all as the new Assistant Principal at Highland Middle School. I am thrilled to be able to call myself a Highland Husky, as Highland Central School District has the reputation of being an amazing place for students to learn as well as being an oustanding place to work. As the new Assistant Principal, I look forward to getting the chance to meet all of you very soon, but in the meantime, I wanted to tell you a little about myself and my background.
I have spent the last 12+ years working in various educational rolls including time spent as a substitute teacher, a coach, a classroom teacher (Adolescent Social Studies), a Technology and Curriculum Specialist, and most recently as a school administrator for Orange-Ulster BOCES. Throughout these past several years I have had the privilege of working with thousands of students from diverse backgrounds including incarcerated youths in Orange County Jail, English Language Learners, students with disabilities, adult learners, and many other learners from all walks of life. The different positions I've held have helped me to shape the breadth of my experience and have prepared me for success in Highland.
I come from a very large family, and some of my hobbies include playing/watching sports, enjoying live music, and traveling whenever I get the chance. On a personal level, I am a lifelong resident of the Hudson Valley, and grew up only a short drive away in Cornwall, NY. The tight-knit community here in Highland reminds me a lot of my upbringing and is one of the reasons I was happy to have the opportunity to work in this great district.
Furthermore, I wanted to thank you all for welcoming me into the Highland Central School District and I hope to meet all of you very soon!
