The Highland Central School District is pleased to announce that it will continue to offer its Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program next year. The District will begin accepting applications for the program on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
It is anticipated that there will be 48 UPK spots available for the 2025-2026 school year. The final number will be determined once the New York State budget is adopted. Spots will once again be assigned using a random lottery selection process. The program is NOT first come, first served.
The UPK application period will close on Friday, May 2, 2025. A list of Frequently Asked Questions is currently available on our website, and the online application will be available on the same page starting April 9.
A lottery selection will take place in May to determine which students are eligible to register for the program, which will start in September. The District will email each applicant after the lottery to let them know whether their student was selected or placed on the waiting list.
In order to be eligible for the UPK program, a child must be a resident of the Highland Central School District and turn four years old on or before December 1, 2025.
