Highland Bus Driver Named Best in Ulster County
The Highland Central School District is proud to announce that Mary Dutka has been named Ulster County’s 2025 School Bus Driver of the Year.
Dutka has been a Highland bus driver for nearly 40 years, earning praise for her spotless safety record, care for students, and dedication to the job. From decorating her bus with school colors to supporting students with special needs, Dutka goes above and beyond every day, and we are incredibly lucky to have her!
Dutka was presented with her award, as well a certificate of excellence, by County Executive Jen Metzger on April 24. Other local officials, including Traffic Safety Coordinator Brian Slack and County Legislator Gina Hansut, were in attendance, along with Highland Transportation Director Cathy Mekulik.
