District Now Accepting Applications for UPK Program

The Highland Central School District will begin accepting applications for its 2026-2027 Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program on Monday, March 2, 2026.

The District will be offering UPK programming next year through a partnership with Stepping Stones at the Park. The program will not be housed in Highland school buildings.

It is anticipated that 36 UPK spots will be available for the upcoming school year. Placement in the program will be determined through a random lottery selection process. The program is not first come, first served.

The application period will remain open through Monday, April 6, 2026. Families can access the application online.

Shortly after the application period closes, the District will conduct a lottery to determine which students are eligible to register for the program, which begins in September. Families will be notified by email following the lottery to indicate whether their child has been selected or placed on the waiting list.

To be eligible for UPK, a child must reside within the Highland Central School District and turn four years old on or before December 1, 2026.

Families seeking additional information may email Carly Jacobsen or Sarah Hathaway. A list of frequently asked questions is also available on our website.
