Elementary School Hosts Second Annual Turkey Trot

Highland Elementary School’s second annual Turkey Trot was a tremendous success, bringing together students, staff, and families for a day of fun, fitness, and philanthropy.

On November 10, classes “flocked” outside or to the gymnasium throughout the day to participate in the event, which supported Breakthrough T1D, a global organization that funds research and advocates for people with type 1 diabetes (T1D).

Students and teachers ran, walked, and trotted their way toward a common goal—making a difference for others. Thanks to their enthusiasm and generosity, the school raised more than $3,000 to support life-changing research and advocacy for those affected by T1D.

The Turkey Trot has quickly become a favorite Highland tradition, encouraging students to stay active while demonstrating the power of community and compassion. Way to go, Huskies!
