Amanda Coppola has joined the Highland Central School District as the new assistant principal of Highland Elementary School.

Coppola brings more than a decade of experience in education to Highland, with a background spanning classroom instruction, instructional coaching, curriculum and instruction, and school leadership. Most recently, she served as principal of Webutuck Elementary School in Amenia, where her work focused on strengthening school culture and climate, increasing family and community engagement, supporting curriculum implementation, and using academic, attendance, and behavioral data to address student needs.

Prior to becoming principal, Coppola served as an instructional coach for the Webutuck Central School District. In that role, she supported teachers with writing and differentiated instruction, coordinated district testing, facilitated professional development and grade-level data meetings, supported curriculum initiatives, and helped lead building safety and attendance efforts. She also served as the school district’s interim director of curriculum and instruction, overseeing professional development and supporting the implementation of instructional programs.

Coppola began her career as a Pre-Kindergarten teacher in New Paltz before teaching in the Bronx and later at Webutuck. Her experience in the classroom includes both general and integrated co-teaching settings.

“I am incredibly excited to join the Highland Elementary School community and begin getting to know our students, staff, and families,” Coppola said. “I look forward to working alongside Principal [Ian] MacCormack and the entire Highland team to create a welcoming, supportive environment where every student feels valued and has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.”

Coppola holds a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration and a Master of Science in Education in Childhood Education and Reading/Literacy from SUNY New Paltz, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Childhood Education from The College of Saint Rose. She holds New York State certifications in school and district leadership, childhood education, and early childhood education.
