Elementary Students Combine Halloween Fun with STEM Learning

Highland Elementary School’s youngest Huskies have been brewing up some Halloween fun in the STEM Lab! Under the guidance of STEM teacher Kristina Hughes, students took on festive, hands-on engineering challenges that blended creativity with science and problem-solving.

Kindergarteners worked together to build spider web bridges using tape, plastic cups, and string, while first graders designed and constructed pumpkin gates with paper towel rolls, blocks, and plastic cups.

These imaginative activities brought Halloween excitement into the classroom while helping students practice teamwork, critical thinking, and engineering design—proof that learning can be frightfully fun!
