Seniors Lead Writing Workshops for Grade 4 Students

Grade 4 students at Highland Elementary School recently had the opportunity to take part in special writing workshops led by Highland High School seniors from Harriett Meyer’s Writing and Rhetoric class.

The collaboration began with the seniors sharing their own personal narratives, offering younger students a glimpse into their storytelling process and inspiring them with their creativity and insight. Afterward, the high schoolers served as mentors, working one-on-one with the fourth graders to provide feedback, encouragement, and strategies for bringing their own stories to life.

The event fostered meaningful connections between students of different grade levels and celebrated the power of storytelling as a way to learn and grow together. Highland Elementary and High School staff expressed pride in both groups—for their creativity, leadership, and collaboration in making the workshops such a success.
