HMS Students Participate in Powerful Mental Health Presentation

Grade 7 students in Melissa Ivins’s Health classes at Highland Middle School recently participated in a powerful mental health awareness program presented by representatives from the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

The session provided students with valuable information about recognizing the warning signs of mental health challenges and learning how to seek help for themselves or support others in need. Guest speakers discussed strategies for promoting mental health awareness and suicide prevention, while a young adult presenter shared her personal experiences with courage and honesty.

Through these discussions, students gained a deeper understanding of the importance of open communication and were reminded that it is always okay to speak up and ask for help.
