HES Garden Project

We are excited to announce that Highland Elementary School now has a garden!! The Garden Committee has worked together throughout the spring to create ten, raised garden beds full of vegetables and herbs. It is located on the hill behind the intermediate building, past the gymnasium.

The garden was created to establish a system in which the children will have the opportunity to participate in its care. This will allow the students to learn how to become better stewards of our natural environment, reap the benefits of their hard work and share the rewards of their efforts with the community and school. By diversifying the garden plants, the children will see and learn firsthand how nature uses the differences between the plants to establish harmony.

We are seeking support from the families of our HES community to help in the maintenance of the garden. Volunteers can sign up through Sign Up Genius to care for and harvest produce from the garden. Simply visit https://www.signupgenius.com and search through the email address BHaas@highland-k12.org. Thank you for your support!!!
