Student Opt-In for COVID-19 Screening Testing

Dear Parents and Guardians,
On Thursday, September 2, 2021, the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) released new information regarding testing in a P-12 school setting. As part of the new requirements, school districts located in geographic areas identified by the CDC as having moderate, substantial, or high transmission rates must offer weekly COVID-19 screening testing for unvaccinated students. Currently, our geographic area is identified as a high transmission area, therefore the District is required to offer weekly testing for any unvaccinated students who wish to participate.
To determine the number of students who would like to opt-in, any parent/guardian who wishes to have their unvaccinated child(ren) be tested weekly for COVID-19 must sign up by completing the form at this link. We request that you complete this form no later than Wednesday, September 15, so the District can plan accordingly. Once again, this testing is optional, and your child is not required to be tested. The District is working with Ulster County officials to coordinate the logistics of the location and schedule of the testing.
Once all the information is collected, additional communication will be provided to families who opted to participate, including when the testing will begin.
Please note as part of the new requirements from NYSDOH, all unvaccinated staff will be required to have testing performed for COVID-19 at least once a week when a school is in a geographic area identified by the CDC as having a low, moderate, substantial, or high transmission rates. Staff are permitted to opt-out of mandatory weekly screening testing if they submit proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
