HHS Senior Named Commended Student in National Merit Scholarship Program
Highland High School (HHS) is proud to announce that senior Lena Tran has been recognized as a Commended Student in the prestigious National Merit Scholarship competition.
The National Merit Scholarship program is an annual academic competition among high school students for recognition and college scholarships. Students who are U.S. citizens, who plan to go to college, and who take the Preliminary SAT (PSAT) in October of their junior year are eligible to receive National Merit scholarships and distinctions.
Commended Students have the honor of placing among the top 50,000 students who took last year’s PSAT. Although she is not eligible to continue in this year’s competition, Lena is still part of a group of thousands of students across the nation who are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise.
"We are incredibly proud of Lena's hard work and dedication,” said HHS Principal Kevin Murphy. “Being named a Commended Student in the National Merit Scholarship competition is an outstanding achievement that reflects her academic excellence and commitment to learning. I am confident that this recognition will open doors for Lena, broadening her educational opportunities and encouraging her as she continues her pursuit of academic success.”
